Let the lights shine within us!
These days I sometimes feel lonely. I feel that life is not turning to be the way I wanted. I sit at home alone and think about how life was better before, how I felt more loved and how life could have been better! Then tears roll down my eyes for I am filled with anguish and disappointment. Then I start questioning the Almighty and ask him what did I do to deserve this. I am sure all of us have felt sad, helpless, angry at some point or the other and this leads to frustration. If we do not let these feelings go, this inturn might lead to depression.
It is during these moments that I look around for the optimist in me- I reach out to the ever smiling and positive soul in me to console me and explain me that life can be better, but it could have been worse too. You realize this is true when you look around and see that little boy on the street begging for a coin that would probably give some respite to his hunger. You remember that when you were this young, your parents would bring you all the goodies unasked, had to almost pester you to eat and not waste food. Then one day you have the privilege of chilling in your Airconditioned room and watch tv, you happen to come across a dance reality show where a 5 year old dances like magic and when she introduces her teacher, he happens to be a physically challenged man who teaches only with the help of this hands. He wanted to be a dancer himself but having lost both his legs, now teaches kids. You look at your feet and cant hold back your tears. He never gived up, so why should you. All the complaints to the Almighty turn into gratitude. You thank him for your life, for all the laughter you had.
A few days later we shall celebrate Diwali. As we light up our homes with the brightest lights, let us remove the darkness within. Let us make our hearts and soul shine with the lights of love, empathy and kindness. Before we burn the crackers, let us burn our inner demons that makes us jealous, proud, cruel and selfish at times. Let us not envy people who are happier than us and count our own blessings. Let us be sane enough to understand life is not a bed of roses, it can be difficult, but we should never give up on hope and faith.
I came across a very beautiful article in a magazine today which said we should kill the demon of unhappiness that comes from greed and wanting more. let us be content with what we have. There will always be someone richer and more beautiful than us. But let that not make us sad. Lets not wait for the perfect Sunday or the perfect partner to have a good time. It is now. Life is beautiful. Lets be grateful for having this gift of life. Happy Diwali in advance!
